Oorbeek rocks Cyclic!

Photos © Cafe Velo

Dressed in vintage cycling jerseys Oorbeek performed in brilliant Cyclic style; departing from the Duchamp installation of a bicycle wheel mounted on a bar stool, which was then used as a musical instrument and played with inner tube, bass guitar, tambourine, a balloon and spoke cards. The multi coloured spoke beads were a nice addition to the original Duchamp.
The Tour de France soundscapes (commentators frantically rattling of the names of the coureurs, typical Tour de France sirens, shouting spectators, nostalgia) blended wonderfully with the backdrop of Brent Humpreys work 'Le Tour'. I loved it!

Only one more day of Cyclic left now, see you tomorrow in the gallerie for a last chance to enjoy the works on display, check out the shop and the movie programme put together by Myrte Derks.

cyclic open!

Last night cyclic opened her doors to the awaiting public, kicking off the weekend with a great poem from Vindersloon about the Tour and doping. Being a group show, it was super to see some familiar and some new faces come out for the opening of exhibition. Thanks to all that came and contributed to the success of the opening!

Today at 4pm Oorbeek will be performing a piece that departs from Marcel du Champs bicycle wheel. Bike by if you haven't been already!
Check the programme for details on tomorrows film screening of Mash.

The exhibition also has its own shop where you can pick up limited edition, books/posters and t-shirts!

Saturday 10 October 2pm - 6pm
Sunday 11 October 2pm - 6pm

Programme:

Friday 9 October: Opening

We welcome you in the gallery from 5pm to start celebrating Cyclic with us!

At 6pm Vera en Cheryl will officially open Cyclic with a poem about doping and other Tour de France facts by Vindersloon. Drinks will be served and we'll have a bicycle music soundtrack provided by Club Rascal resident dj Bex.

Saturday 10 October: Ride & Live Performance

At 11.30am we'll serve coffee in Café Vélo style from the Macbike bakfiets outside the gallery for all the cyclists who want to join us for the Cylic ride.

Depart at 12, expect to be back around 2pm-3pm for the afternoon program.

At 4pm Oorbeek will give a performance departing from the bicycle wheel installation by Marcel Duchamp. Where they will finish is (in true Oorbeek style) unknown but will undoubtedly be interesting. This is where it all comes together: bicycle – art – performance. Enjoy!

On this day you can have your old or boring bicycle clothing pimped by the Cyclic Style dept. Please bring your bicycle clothes that are in need of an upgrade and have them revamped by our expert seamstresses.

Brent Humphrey's Le Tour

Here's a preview of the work of Brent Humphreys that is being flown over the Atlantic for Cyclic as I'm typing this.

Brent is photographer from the USA who made a stunning series about the Tour de France; portraits of cyclists, alpine landscapes, the circus and spectators surrounding the Tour.
